Injectible wrinkle-reducers and volume enhancers like Botox and dermal fillers have become incredibly popular. How could they not? These treatments allow men and women to turn back the hands of time with little more than a few minutes of their time! If you see Dr. Behr for injectible treatment, you clearly want the best possible results from one-on-one care; and we want that for you. With that in mind, we offer a few tips on how to care for your skin in between visits to our Fresno dermatology office.
Hydrate!
Water is vital to health and vitality, and one of the first places that dehydration will show up is on your skin. Maximize your skin care by staying hydrated with at least 64 ounces of water each day.
Exfoliate
Everyone needs to exfoliate. This practice encourages a healthy rate of cellular turnover. When you only wash your face, even with the right cleanser, unhealthy cells can linger on the surface. Eventually, this will lead to dullness and complexion issues. Dr. Behr can discuss gentle exfoliating products and technique that may be easily instituted a few times a week. In addition to ridding the skin of dead, damaged cells, exfoliation also promotes collagen production, which you definitely want!
Keep It Clean
The last thing you may feel like doing right before bed is washing your face; but this is an important task if you want to avoid unsightly skin irritation. At some point in your evening routine, wash off all makeup so your skin can breathe adequately while you sleep. Clogged pores will not degrade your fillers, but they can cause pimples.
Moisturize
Even when you drink your 64 ounces of water, your skin will be thirsty. Quench it with an appropriate moisturizing lotion or cream. Daytime moisturizer should contain sunscreen. These products are often lighter in consistency and blend well with makeup. Nighttime moisturizers may be heavier with nourishing ingredients that fight wrinkles and feed skin cells.
